While laptops have become significantly better with time in sense of durability, software and hardware, accidents happen. It might be your screen flickering or dropping your laptop while working. It’s important to look at the warranty of the laptop you’re buying to be sure of what you’re getting. It’s a really essential part in buying a laptop.
There are basically three types of warranty that come with laptop these a days:
Offsite Warranty
Onsite Warranty
ADP Warranty
Offsite Warranty
This is the most common warranty that has existed since the beginning. If you face any problem in your laptop regarding software or hardware, you find the service center for your laptop brand and take it there in working hours.
Offsite warranty doesn’t cover any physical damage to your laptop. So, if you broke your screen or spilled water on your laptop, it won’t be covered in offsite warranty. Hardware malfunction due to internal causes or software issues are covered in this warranty.
Service Centers collect your laptop and take time to examine and repair your laptop. It can be anywhere from 1 Day to 4 weeks depending on the problem you’re facing and availability of parts for it.
Onsite Warranty
Brands like Dell and HP offer this warranty and be sure to ask the sales guy if you’re getting this warranty on the selected model. Onsite warranty is same as offsite warranty but the difference lies in the fact that you don’t have to visit the service center. A representative from the company visits your place and collects your laptop.
Once the laptop is done with repair, it’s delivered to your doorstep and no charge is incurred. Again, Onsite warranty also doesn’t cover any physical damage or liquid damage. They are only responsible for malfunctioning of your device parts.
ADP (Accidental Damage Protection)
Lenovo provides accidental damage protection on most of laptops and if you can get this with your laptop, you’re on the safe side. ADP covers all the aspects of aforesaid warranties and much more.
If you drop your laptop from your desk by mistake and display is damaged, you’re safe with ADP. Dropped coffee on your laptop and it’s dead now ! Don’t worry, that’s covered too. If you don’t have ADP and spilled coffee, we got your back.
You won’t be covered under ADP if you lose your laptop somewhere or misplace any part like battery or adapter. In that case, you will have to pay for the parts.
So, it’s important to consider warranty while buying a laptop. Nobody hopes an accident but you have to be prepared for it.
